My name is Salma, and I tutor in Atlanta, Georgia. I am a sophomore at Emory University, majoring in Applied Mathematics, and pursuing a dual degree with Georgia Tech in Industrial and Systems Engineering.
I am currently located at Emory’s Atlanta Campus, and will be matriculating at Georgia Tech in the fall of 2027. I tutor Math (up to AP Calculus BC), English and Writing, Robotics, Coding, and Chemistry.
I can also help with the SAT (I scored 1480 (750 Math, 730 English), and AP courses--my AP scores were Calculus BC (5), Chemistry (3), English Language and Composition (5), English Literature and Composition (5), US History (5), Research (4), Seminar (5), Spanish (5), and World History (5).
In 2024, I graduated Valedictorian from North Star Academy Washington Park High School in Newark, NJ. Throughout high school, I tutored geometry and algebra and, as a senior, regularly peer-reviewed English essays and research papers to help classmates strengthen their writing and analytical skills. Through Emory Reads, I had the opportunity to tutor small groups of children ranging from 1st to 4th grade in reading, writing, and math during my freshman year of college. This past summer, I worked as a STEM educator at Liberty Science Center in Jersey City, NJ, where I planned and facilitated hands-on learning activities in aeronautics, robotics, coding, chemistry, and more. Over the course of ten weeks, I led groups of up to 20 students, designing interactive experiments and challenges that allowed students to build, test, and explore concepts themselves, making science exciting and tangible.
Outside of work, I have found a passion in volunteering with ACEing Autism, a nonprofit that holds weekly tennis clinics for low-income autistic youth. I have grown to love the game of tennis and my passion for working with kids has only increased. This experience has taught me the value of communication, patience, consistency, and positive encouragement.
I apply this same approach to tutoring by understanding students on a personal level and recognizing that every learner processes information differently. I prioritize creating a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and building confidence at their own pace.
