Hello! My name is Pooja, and I am a Philadelphia native. I am a rising sophomore at Haverford College majoring in Biology with a minor in Neuroscience on the Pre-Med Track. Driven by my aspiration to become a pediatric surgeon, I am deeply interested in the advanced sciences and passionate about tutoring pre-med foundational subjects, particularly biology and chemistry. I love diving into the fascinating details of how biological and chemical systems work and I strive to share that enthusiasm and knowledge with my students. My goal is to make these rigorous STEM subjects approachable and engaging, helping students build the strongest foundation they need for their future academic endeavors.

During high school, I worked as a tutor through my school’s National Honor Society, giving me a strong background in educational support. I provided tutoring to freshmen, specializing in Biology, Algebra 1, World History, and Spanish. I am quite adaptable and I recognize that every student processes information differently. To accommodate diverse learning styles, I use different strategies and aids that ensure they can break down complex problems and grasp the material in a way that makes sense to them. I want to help students develop critical thinking, problem solving skills, and the confidence to tackle challenging coursework and concepts.

Outside of the classroom, I like to express my creativity through henna and nail art. I have played the violin for 9 years and have recently decided to take a break. I am also a member of my college’s South Asian Society where we plan cultural events. This summer, I am furthering my medical experience by earning my EMT certification! I am determined to create a supportive, patient, and encouraging learning environment to help students achieve academic success and empower them to achieve their goals. I am excited for the opportunity to help my future students reach their full academic potential.
