Hi! I'm Tessa, a sophomore here at Middlebury College. I'm a Political Science and Creative Writing double major, and have a love of all things learning. I plan on pursuing political journalism and law post-grad. I tutored my fair share of students in high school, prepping for standardized tests, helping with essay and writing skills, and going through the general motions of coursework for elementary through middle schoolers. I also worked with Baltimore City Public School youth, tutoring disadvantaged students before and after school in math, english, and history. Along with tutoring, I've been the tutoree, and understand the nuances of how to interact and support a child's needs. I got a 1550 on my SAT, scoring a 790 on the math section, and 760 on the english section. I studied (maybe a bit too much) for that, and feel confident in my ability to help students foster healthy and effective studying habits. I'm a writing fanatic, and spend my free time writing letters to friends or stories to be. I did a lot of college essay tutoring when I was in high school, tutoring peers regarding supplementals and personal statements, and can help you all make the college process a little less daunting. Outside of academics, I'm a part of Middlebury Discount Comedy, our version of SNL where I write and perform sketches with an ensemble of students. I'm a card game fanatic, and you'll frequently find me pestering friends to play one more round of Cribbage or Smudge. I also play on the ultimate frisbee team, (although I tend to be more of a benchwarmer...) Regardless, I love community, being part of a team, and fostering an environment full of laughing and learning. I cannot wait to work with you all!

Hello! My name is Charlotte and I am an incoming first year at Middlebury College. Currently, I am interested in studying Political Science, History, and French, yet I am looking forward to exploring many different subject areas at Middlebury. I love learning, and I am passionate about helping other students find the joy in learning as much as I do. In high school, I was a part of my school’s teacher-nominated peer tutoring program where I worked with students in a multitude of subjects in which they were struggling. I have taken more than ten AP courses in English, Math, Science, History, and French, and I am comfortable tutoring in a wide variety of subjects and with students of varying ages. Outside of academics, I was a part of my school’s women’s varsity tennis team for four years and I love to spend time outside, especially during the winter and on the snow (I ski raced for seven years!). I have also been an adaptive ski and water sports instructor where I have worked with kids and adults with a range of cognitive and physical disabilities. I am not only familiar but also comfortable with adapting to various learning styles and meeting students where they are. I am a very calm and patient person, as well as kind and organized. I am also a really good listener, and I value my ability to be perceptive and to understand others deeply. It is very meaningful to me to have the opportunity to share both my non-academic interests as well as my passion for learning with others, and I look forward to continuing to do so in Middlebury.

Hi! My name is Lucy Igoe and I am a senior at Middlebury College originally from Williamstown, Massachusetts. I have always been passionate about analyzing and discussing literature; since childhood I have loved to read. I think an essay is much stronger when a student discusses their thesis and analysis with another person. I would love to be a catalyst for your child to develop their ideas and work through their papers. Especially now, it is important to come up with original ideas and be able to express them eloquently.

During my gap semester, I worked as a substitute teacher at Williamstown Elementary School helping students one on one with various subjects and following lesson plans for entire classes. There I learned how to effectively foster a positive learning environment and teach in a multitude of ways that catered to the students I was working with. I also coached at Williamstown Soccer Camp for two summers where I organized drills for small groups and strategized game plans for my team. I grew up playing soccer my whole life and I now play on the women’s club team at Middlebury; I think it is important to teach game strategy and workshop individual skills as well as grow a passion for the sport, on-field confidence, and sportsmanship.

Last semester, I studied abroad in Madrid for five months and took all four classes in Spanish. The experience was challenging but rewarding and taught me that truly learning a language comes from a lot more than just a textbook. I would be happy to help your child with Spanish by using the same skills I learned in Madrid: learning a language is not just memorizing grammar rules but understanding why they occur. I have worked with kids throughout different jobs, I am part of the community friend mentorship program at Middlebury, and I would be honored to help your child develop the skills they need to succeed in and out of the classroom!

Hi! My name is Anna, and I am an effervescent senior student-athlete at Middlebury College pursuing a double major in Biology and Anthropology. I am happy to help with a variety of STEAM courses, including but not limited to Chemistry, Physics, AP Calculus, Biology, and Art. Growing up, I had the privilege of meeting with a tutor twice a week to work through my reading disability and ADHD. Through my determination and the support of others, I was able to overcome these adversities and pick up a multitude of hobbies at my public high school, from being a three-sport varsity athlete to an AP art scholar, a member of the National Honor Society, a 4.0 student, and even being elected by my classmates to the school's student council team. This ultimately led me to Middlebury College, where I have discovered my passion for Conservation Research. With empathy and patience, I will enthusiastically help students who may feel frustrated or overwhelmed. I aim to give my students the academic confidence that took me many years to develop through an understanding, supportive environment where they can feel comfortable making mistakes and asking questions. Outside of my academics, I compete in the 400-meter hurdles for Middlebury's track and field team. I am also happy to work with students interested in sprinting, hurdles, block starts, or general athletic development. Being a D3 student-athlete has given me new time-management and organizational skills, making me a very adaptable student. I have worked with children for years as a lifeguard, first responder, babysitter, and swim instructor. Additionally, I studied abroad in Croatia, where I conducted research and collaborated with colleagues to produce novel, publishable findings. Through this, I know I have the communication and teamwork skills it takes to help any student in need. I love working with others and can't wait to show students the success that comes through perseverance and persistence!

My name is Dylan — a Middlebury College first-year (Class of 2029) originally from New York City, and I'm taking on new students this semester. I tutor English, ESL, French, AP US & European History, AP Government, SAT prep, college admissions essays, and math through pre-calculus. Here's what makes me different from the average college tutor: I graduated from Regis High School (NYC) in 2025 with a 1510 SAT score and hands-on tutoring experience — both through Regis's peer tutoring program and teaching ESL via Zoom at a UNHCR-funded school in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Writing and college admissions are my specialty. I know firsthand how paralyzing writer's block can be during the college process — and I know how to fix it. I can help students structure their thinking, sharpen their supplemental essays, and approach admissions with confidence. French students, I've got you. Four years of high school French, a student exchange in Paris, and a genuine passion for language learning means I can help you move beyond memorization toward real fluency. I'm Diptanshu, a tutor in Middlebury, Vermont, offering help in Math, English, Spanish, Reading, History, Basketball, and Soccer. I’m a sophomore at Middlebury College, where I’m majoring in Economics and pursuing a minor in Mathematics.

I started tutoring through my high school’s National Honor Society. I have experience working with middle school and high school students taking courses in high school Mathematics, History, Spanish, and English. I was also a member of our school’s Spanish Honors Society and took Spanish classes all four years of high school. During my senior year, I was awarded the Minnesota Seal of Biliteracy, and I would love to help anyone interested in learning Spanish!

At Middlebury, I have completed math coursework up to multivariable calculus and completed economics coursework up to economic statistics (econometrics). I have also taken courses in American History, Chinese History, and even Indian Cinema. Outside of the classroom, I am on the board of our South Asian Student Association and a participant in intramural basketball and soccer. I played varsity soccer all four years of high school, and played basketball from fourth grade to 10th grade. I’m a big believer in collaboration, and almost everything I do involves my favorite activity: being a teammate.

Along with tutoring students, I’ve also experienced being tutored. During my freshman and sophomore years of high school, I struggled with math courses in geometry and algebra, and even worse, I struggled with asking for help. It was only after I was paired with an upperclassman tutor through the National Honor Society that my grades and understanding of the subject began to improve. During my Junior and Senior years of high school, I used my experience being tutored to help younger students and foster a collaborative environment focused on developing comprehensive and technical ability.

As a tutor, I’m excited to work alongside students and help them achieve their academic goals. Outside of academics, I am open to assisting students in developing their technical ability in basketball and soccer as well.
