I'm Ela, a psychology major at Bard College, with a concentration in film and music. Since I was young, I've explored teaching. I played games (like teacher teacher) with my sisters when I was eight, coordinated Zoom calls during COVID, to help underprivileged students from kindergarten to college on various assignments, and joined an outreach program at my high school, helping children with disabilities learn. These experiences have deepened my passion for learning, for seeing growth, and it's why I decided to study psychology, and explore child development and memory.

With a lifetime of music—piano from when I was five, violin for the past 10 years, self-taught guitar and electric bass—I love integrating musical elements into lessons, and also understand how to create tailored learning strategies that address everyone's unique needs. Beyond music, my passion for filmmaking and screenwriting has helped me explore subjects through visual storytelling and narrative techniques, making abstract concepts more concrete and memorable. Whether working with students who need extra support or those seeking to excel further, it's my hope that I can help someone not just with their academic improvement, but to foster a genuine love for learning. 

I’m a tutor in Dutchess County near Red Hook, and I’d love to help with k-12 math. My name is Yaroslav, and I am a Mathematics and Computer Science double major at Bard College, graduating in 2027.

I have over three years of tutoring experience, first at Dutchess Community College and now at Bard, helping students strengthen their skills and confidence in subjects such as calculus, linear algebra, computer programming, and algorithms.

My name is Lucero, and I'm an Art Tutor in Red Hook, New York. In one-on-one lessons or in small groups, I teach Classical Drawing, Classical Oil Painting, Life Drawing/Figure Drawing (I also teach k-12 English and History). I am a double major student at Bard College in History and Studio Arts.

As a graduate from New School for the Arts and Academics in Tempe, Arizona, I have the foundational skills of a classically-trained artist. I am proficient in classical drawing: training the eye to see light, shadow, form, dimension, etc. Using these fundamentals, they can be applied to figurative drawing; as I am also trained in anatomical drawing. In addition to my drawing background, I can also assist students in classical oil painting; drawing from the expertise of the old masters. In oil painting, I can assist with color theory, light, shadow, composition, symbolism, etc.

And with all of these foundations, I can assist students with discovering their voice and using their learned artistic skills to express themselves artfully. I have multiple years of experience tutoring middle school students in various subjects at my art school in high school. Moving into college, I have experience in classical art and tutoring, which helps me to provide well-rounded guidance for students.

My name is Kaylie! I am a Biology major, with a 4.0 GPA, on a pre-med track at Bard, graduating in 2029. As someone who is deeply interested in various fields of science, I have taken courses across the broad umbrella of STEM, both in high school and college. As I believe that understanding the conceptual idea of the material is crucial in the process of learning, my approach to tutoring will be focused on breaking down a challenging concept and applying it to real-life problems.

I tutor Chemistry, Biology, Psychology, Environmental Science, Math (up to Calculus I), and the AP courses and exams I took--my AP scores were Biology (4), Economics (4), English Literature and Composition (4), Environmental Science (5), Psychology (5).

From working as a tour guide at a live butterfly exhibition, working as an EMT at Bard EMS, as well as traditional tutoring experiences, I have various interactive experiences that helped me develop multiple skill sets to form personalized learning for each student. I'm Joey, a current sophomore student at Bard College and a psychology major.

I tutor Middle school/high school English, Math, and History, other humanities based subjects, and all AP Exams in those subjects. My AP results were: English Language (4), English Literature (4), European History (5), Psychology (4), Spanish Literature (3), U.S. History (5), and World History (4).

In the past, I've had experience coaching and teaching academic debate as an extracurricular to high school students for the past three years. This includes teaching argumentative concepts, as well as helping students understand critical theory and politics in an argumentative format. I'm a helpful and understanding person with a lot of patience and I love watching people understand concepts they previously didn't.

I’m Jesse! I offer tutoring in Red Hook, NY. I tutor English, Literature, Writing, History, Spanish, and Tennis. I’m in my second year at Bard college studying Global and International Studies with a concentration on Latin American and Iberian Studies and Spanish.

My goal as a tutor is to support students academically by helping them develop confidence and a genuine interest in learning, even when the material is challenging. My passion for the humanities and for using writing as a tool for clearer thinking led me to pursue tutoring. I hope to encourage students to embrace the toughest parts of writing and ultimately use that struggle to enhance their understanding and enjoyment of a subject. I have long been the person my peers could turn to for help with coursework, and that has taught me how to effectively communicate how any piece of writing can be improved. I teach practical study strategies—breaking tasks into manageable steps, annotating texts productively, and outlining essays—that students can apply across disciplines. My approach to writing instruction is rooted in the tenets of effective and cohesive argument building, which ties into public speaking and oratory. I emphasize a ground-up strategy for crafting an argument which begins with talking ideas through before anything even gets written down–a practice that will naturally build a student’s confidence with speaking and presentation. My background in theater and speech and debate enables me to bring different strategies to this kind of teaching.

Outside the classroom, I play on Bard’s tennis team. My love for the sport led me to work as a full-time tennis coach for students ages 5–14, which strengthened my ability to teach with patience, clarity, and encouragement. I look forward to utilizing my skillset to bolster students’ confidence and passion for learning by providing practical academic skills in an encouraging, stress-free way.

My name is Bee, and I offer tutoring in Red Hook, New York in English, Literature, essay writing, beginner French, beginner Piano, Voice lessons, AP English Literature, AP English Language, and college application preparation. I am a Junior at Bard College studying Art History and Written Arts.

A lot of stress can often come from academics, and I hope to help alleviate some of this while also delivering solid results. I like to set a proper relationship while tutoring so the academic help feels more hands-on and unique to the student. My goal is to make sure the students feel comfortable and are excited to learn, making sure to make it fun for them in the process.
