Hello! My name is Brielle, and I’m a pre-med Biology, Neuroscience, and Chemistry student at UNC Chapel Hill. I am passionate about helping others learn and gain confidence in challenging subjects, just as my own mentors have helped me. My strongest tutoring areas are biology, chemistry, psychology, neuroscience, and physics, and I also enjoy tutoring math subjects including algebra, geometry, precalculus, and calculus.
As a tutor, my goal is not only to help students improve their grades, but also to help them become more confident and independent learners. I work to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking lots of questions, making mistakes, and growing. I enjoy breaking down concepts into manageable steps and using visual explanations, practice problems, and real-world examples to make learning more engaging.
In addition to my coursework, I work as a research assistant in a biophysics and molecular genetics laboratory at UNC, where I study the mechanics of DNA breakage and repair. I am also deeply involved in ethics as a scholar with UNC’s Parr Center for Ethics, where I have presented abstracts at conferences both locally and at Stanford University. Experiences like these have strengthened my ability to explain complex concepts clearly and adapt my teaching to fit different audiences and learning styles.
Outside of academics, I enjoy volunteering at UNC Hospital’s ICU, the local syringe services program, and at the local Orange County animal shelter. I enjoy working with people from all backgrounds and helping others feel supported, whether in a healthcare setting or a tutoring session. My volunteer experiences have taught me patience, empathy, and the importance of meeting people where they are.
In my free time, I enjoy photography, reading, and staying active. I also played competitive soccer for over ten years, which taught me discipline, teamwork, and the importance of encouraging others to reach their goals.
