My name is Sahvanna, and I tutor in Northampton, MA. I'm a first year at Smith College, majoring in Government, with a concentration in American Politics, on a pre-law track, graduating in 2029. I tutor K-12 Math, French, Spanish, Drawing, and Painting. I am from New York City and went to Trinity School. I have always loved working with kids since high school and volunteered at Manhattan Children's center, gaining experience in working with special needs children. During the summers in high school, I also worked as a counselor at summer camps with campers of all ages. I am a native Spanish speaker and have been taking French classes for 8 years. Since elementary school, I have always loved Math and Art. Outside of academics, I enjoy anything in the arts—singing, drawing, and painting. I’ve been involved in art programs since middle school and enjoy working with other artists interested in perfecting their craft. Before Smith, I completed 4 years of French and an advanced Spanish course on Gender and Sexuality in Latin America. I also took an AP-equivalent Calculus AB class in my senior year of high school and received what would be a 5 on the final. I took an advanced art course in my junior and senior year, and outside of school, participated in Parson’s Pre-Youth Fine Arts courses. At Smith, I’ve completed Calculus II, an advanced French elective on Francophone Film, and courses on the American Presidency and Linguistics. In the upcoming Spring semester, I will be completing an advanced Spanish course and Multivariable Calculus along with two classes on religion in American politics and American pop culture. I also am part of Blackapella and POCappella, both of which are affinity acapella groups here at Smith. Whether I am helping a student with differential equations or with the many past tenses in French, I will always make our time engaging, fulfilling, and, most importantly, fun.

If you have a specific tutor in mind, you're welcome to request them directly — we'll confirm whether they're available and the right fit for your student. Otherwise, Ryan writes a personal email to understand your student's needs, learning style, and goals — then handpicks a tutor from the roster. You're not filling out a form and getting assigned randomly. If the first tutor isn't the right fit after the first session, we'll find you a better match at no extra charge.
Yes. Many families start with a single session to see how the tutor and student connect before committing to a regular schedule. There's no pressure to book in advance — reach out and we'll set something up.
Yes. Many of our tutors are strong across several subjects, and sessions can cover more than one if that's what the student needs that week. Flexibility is built into how we work.
Most of our tutors continue working through breaks, either online or in-person at the college if the tutors remain on campus during that vacation. We'll let you know in advance if a tutor has a gap in availability and arrange coverage with one of our other tutors — in-person or online — in the required subject.
Occasionally, if the student lives very close to the tutor's campus. Most sessions take place on or near the college campus or online. This keeps sessions in an academically focused environment — which tends to produce better results.
The families who see the biggest results are the ones who commit to a regular cadence — typically once, twice, or three times a week. One-on-one tutoring with a student from an elite college, who genuinely understands the material, is a fundamentally different experience from a tutoring center or an app. Most of our clients stay with us for multiple semesters.

That depends on where your student is starting and how consistently they show up. Sahvanna will identify the specific gaps, focus sessions on them, and adjust as the student progresses. Families who stick to a weekly schedule typically see meaningful progress within four to six weeks.
