My name is Henry, and I offer tutoring in Williamsburg, Virginia. I'm a student at the College of William & Mary, Class of 2028, majoring in Coastal and Marine Science, possibly doubling in Studio Art. I tutor all AP Science courses, Math (through Calculus BC), essay writing, Japanese, ACT (I scored 33), and SAT (I scored 1590 with 790 in English and 800 in Math). On the AP exams I received the following scores, and I would be happy to help students prepare for these: Biology (5), Calculus BC (5), Chemistry (5), English Language and Composition (4), English Literature and Composition (4), Environmental Science (5), Government and Politics (5), Physics C: Mechanics (5), US History (5), World History (5). I am passionate about nature, animals, and art, and enjoy painting, reading, playing tennis, and watching movies during the weekends (when I am not studying)... Until 3rd Grade, I was homeschooled by my dad, who taught me with a chalkboard and his undivided attention every morning. This one-on-one teaching method engaged me with a variety of subjects from taxonomy and geometry to art history and Latin. When I entered public schools, I had to adjust to large class sizes and unpersonalized lesson plans, which was difficult for me at first. However, with help from my parents and some individual sessions with my teacher, I quickly began to excel in the new environment. Then, as I progressed into high school, I joined my high school’s science quizbowl team, which I was hesitant to participate in at first. But with the kind encouragement from upperclassmen on the team, I began to enjoy each practice and eventually became team Captain. After these experiences, I realized that many students face similar struggles with large group learning, especially in intimidating academic environments. However, an encouraging older voice means everything. It was then that I began tutoring students in science as part of Science National Honor Society and helping younger students prepare for the SAT. Now, I want to continue to share the knowledge that so many other people helped me acquire and give younger students the same confidence that my mentors instilled in me. Whether it is in challenging STEM courses, or general academic assistance, I am devoted to cultivating the remarkable scholastic success that every student is capable of.

If you have a specific tutor in mind, you're welcome to request them directly — we'll confirm whether they're available and the right fit for your student. Otherwise, Ryan writes a personal email to understand your student's needs, learning style, and goals — then handpicks a tutor from the roster. You're not filling out a form and getting assigned randomly. If the first tutor isn't the right fit after the first session, we'll find you a better match at no extra charge.
Yes. Many families start with a single session to see how the tutor and student connect before committing to a regular schedule. There's no pressure to book in advance — reach out and we'll set something up.
Yes. Many of our tutors are strong across several subjects, and sessions can cover more than one if that's what the student needs that week. Flexibility is built into how we work.
Most of our tutors continue working through breaks, either online or in-person at the college if the tutors remain on campus during that vacation. We'll let you know in advance if a tutor has a gap in availability and arrange coverage with one of our other tutors — in-person or online — in the required subject.
Occasionally, if the student lives very close to the tutor's campus. Most sessions take place on or near the college campus or online. This keeps sessions in an academically focused environment — which tends to produce better results.
The families who see the biggest results are the ones who commit to a regular cadence — typically once, twice, or three times a week. One-on-one tutoring with a student from an elite college, who genuinely understands the material, is a fundamentally different experience from a tutoring center or an app. Most of our clients stay with us for multiple semesters.

That depends on where your student is starting and how consistently they show up. Henry will identify the specific gaps, focus sessions on them, and adjust as the student progresses. Families who stick to a weekly schedule typically see meaningful progress within four to six weeks.
